Religion and the Paranormal

There is no denying that religion plays a huge role in the paranormal community. Whether it be a simple sage cleansing or a powerful blessing from a Catholic priest, religion has always been believed to be the most effective way to rid a home of spirits, or keep evil at bay. Nearly every civilization throughout history has had its own unique set of rituals, practices, and beliefs. The polytheistic Mayan and Incan worshipped multiples gods, believing each one to be responsible influencing the world in certain ways, such as affecting the weather, crops, and economy. Pagan worshippers, as well as wiccans, use sage and salt to clear areas of entities or spirits. However, there is ample evidence to suggest that even those who do not practice any religion still have success in expelling entities.
In order to expel spirits from a location, you have to be forceful. Spirits are made out of energy, and it is important to use that to your advantage. The key to affecting them is to make yourself seem bigger and more powerful than the entity you are banishing. This is especially important when dealing with negative inhuman entities. In these cases, most people will instruct you to call in a priest to immediately perform a blessing, but this actually tends to make things worse. It has been proven for some time now that negative inhuman entities can be affected by ANY religion at all, but only if the person using that Religion truly believes and practices it. The reason that these things react to any religion is not necessarily because of any divine intervention. It is due to the sense of empowerment and strength that people feel when they believe they have their faith protecting and fighting for them. This is why jumping straight to a Catholic or Christian blessing, or even a sage cleansing, will often either have no affect, or it will make things worse. If you aren't empowering yourself, the entity won't leave. When investigating a clients home, it is extremely important to be sensitive and respectful to their relgion.
Try and think of these entities as a rude or unwelcome guest in your home. If they constantly tampered with your things, wandered through your house, and made noises while people were trying to sleep. Naturally you would demand that they leave, because they don't live there and they aren't welcomed there. It is the same way with paranormal entities. Whether you choose to use religion or not, what matters most is that you make it clear that you are in charge.
It should be understood, one thinks, that there ARE situations in which one is simply not as powerful as the unwelcome entity. True evil entities are sly, too, and can make it SEEM like they have left a premises when they actually still infest it completely. Paranormal researchers know this; those who dabble in paranormal research or paranormal interaction can find themselves in serious danger if they are not aware of the subtler aspects and capabilities of paranormal entities.
